Greenfield’s ground is easily accessible as its entrance is located on the main coast road (the A548), opposite the Glan-y-Don estate. Car parking is readily available at the ground.
There are regular buses from Flint train station which will stop close to the ground, and it’s only a short walk from the bus stop to the football pitch. Drinks and snacks are available at the ground although there is no clubhouse. Alcoholic drinks and hot food can be bought from the nearby Ship Inn (also known as The Gletch) which is just a 5 minute walk away from the ground, just past the roundabout. Another pub, the Boot & Ship, is also just a 10-15 minute walk away in the Boot End of Bagillt.
Greenfield has a strong history in Welsh football with the original Courtaulds Greenfield factory team being one of the strongest teams in the locality. The team managed to reach a Welsh Cup quarter final where they played Hereford United to a losing attempt. Sadly the demise of the factory in the late 1980s to early 1990s led to the disappearance of the football team, although they left an exceptional football field. The current team was founded in 2005 as a natural outlet to the number of players who were being produced by the successful junior Greenfield sides.
The team started out in the Clwyd League setup, and quickly rose through the leagues before joining the Welsh Alliance League Division Two in 2010. They won the Division Two title in the 2015-16 season, progressing to the third tier of Welsh football. The 2019-20 season proved to be the club’s most successful season by finishing in fourth position in the league and reaching the Second Round of the Welsh Cup.
